Sarah Balboa - Head Coach 15U
Hello! My name is Sarah Balboa and I have been involved with the sport of volleyball for the last 15 years. I played club volleyball from the age of 14 and had the privilege of attending Junior Nationals my 17's year after winning the RMAC. I attended Rampart High School in Colorado Springs where my senior year attended the state championships taking third overall. I then attended University of Nebraska Kearney where I played as a DS/Libero for 2 years before transferring to University of Colorado at Colorado Springs where I played another year as a DS/Libero. I have coached club for five years and I continue to play beach and grass doubles. I absolutely love this game and love helping other girls fall in love with it too! I have two dogs who take up most of my free time and Christmas is my favorite holiday. I look forward to working with these teams this season.
Sarah is also our club head coach and assists with club development.
This will be Sarah's third season with Rebel Volleyball Alliance.
Alyssa Bonesteel - Head Coach 16U
Alyssa Bonesteel is a competitive and energetic coach. Originally from New York, she attended Union College to study Political Science and Russian & East European Studies. While at Union, she was a four year starter for the Dutchwoman as a right side hitter and defensive specialist. Alyssa attended four conference championships and achieved Liberty League All-Academic Team and Dean’s list during all four years of her college career. Throughout college, she coached for the Union College camp and the IREVA High Performance camp. After graduating from Union College in 2017, Alyssa moved to Washington, DC where she played beach doubles and competitive indoor volleyball. She moved to Colorado last year and is excited to be coaching again. In her spare time, Alyssa enjoys playing volleyball, biking and taking her golden retriever puppy on adventures. Alyssa is extremely passionate about coaching the next generation of young athletes after her own experiences taught her so much both on and off the court.
Alyssa will also be heading up and running our Rebel Elite program, to advance the competitiveness of our athletes, teams and club.
This will by Alyssa's third season with Rebel Volleyball.
Hannah Oberle - Assistant Coach 16U
My name is Hannah and I have been around the game of volleyball since I was 12 years old. I am still a newer resident of Colorado, moving here from Lincoln, NE in 2018. I started playing club ball in 6th grade, and continued on to play 4 years of college volleyball at Concordia University, Nebraska as a defensive specialist and setter. I then started coaching as an assistant coach for a year at one of the largest clubs in the Lincoln, NE region. Additionally, I was involved in coaching various fall and spring leagues at different clubs in Nebraska. I love coaching individuals into great athletes, and even greater individuals off the court. I have been lucky to have such amazing coaches and leaders in my life over the years, and I hope to be a positive influence on the athletes at Rebel!
Hannah will be coaching her third season at Rebel.
Kendra Nicolai - Head Coach 14's
Kendra Nicolai has over 12 years of experience working with youth both locally and around the world. She was an Assistant Varsity Volleyball coach at Byron Center High School in Michigan and played as an Outside Hitter for a year at Hope College. She has taught youth the fundamental skills of volleyball in Brazil and Kenya, and has also coached teams at the local Boys & Girls Clubs in Metro Denver. Kendra spends her career working with young women in India and enjoys playing competitive doubles beach volleyball for Volleyball of the Rockies. She is passionate about the sport of volleyball and is excited to continue coaching at Rebel Volleyball Alliance!
This will be Kendra's third year coaching at Rebel.
Alex Tozzie - Defensive Coach
Alex Tozzie is a native to Colorado and has been involved with the sport of volleyball since she was 10 years old. She attended Tiffin University in Ohio on both academic and athletic scholarships where she was an integral player for the Dragons as a defensive specialist for 4 seasons. During her tenure, Alex was named team captain 3 years in a row, while also being selected to the GMAC All Academic-Team and in attendance for 3 conference tournaments. As a first year club coach during her junior year of college, Alex became incredibly dedicated and passionate about teaching young athletes her love of the game and has been a club coach ever since. In her free time, Alex continues to play both indoor and sand volleyball and taking advantage of all that the beautiful state of Colorado has to offer.
This is Alex's third season coaching with Rebel.
Ashlyn Zartun - Head Coach 13U
My name is Ashlyn and I started playing volleyball at 12 years old. I started my coaching journey last season and my goal is to continue to coach young athletes to fall in love with the game, become a better player/teammate and gain confidence on the court and in themselves. I’m 19 years old, a Colorado native and I’m going to college to get my degree in business and design.
